Da shews

Ok, two posts ago I tried to show some shoes, but the pics failed miserably.
Here's take 2.

I really need a good photographer.... if any of ya'll know of someone good (and preferably cheap or bribable)  give me a call.

working girl

Today was my first "semi-official" day at Alysse's Bridal.
the "yay" face.
I shadowed this really nice girl named Kaylie who was super sweet and patient.
We sold this dress (I think its not very cute) to this super cute girl.
She made the dress super cute.
Hopefully, I did a good job and wasn't too obnoxious, pushy, passive, loud, or quiet.
Somewhere in the middle would be nice. :)
I am totally tired now though from being so nervous.
p.s. my pictures haven't been working lately.  my apologies.  I will try and get them to work.

Shoes, shoes, and more shoes :)

My dearest mother has been encouraging me to paint more shoes.
And that I have done.
Dash been doing like, all day for the past couple of days.
It's fantastic!  but I kinda need a break. (at least for today)
Here are some that I did today.
These are baby booties and I loved doing them!
I also did some heels in the lately...
I think I need to figure out a photographer for them before I try to sell them, because obviously, I stink. :)
Oh, and I have work hours for like the first time in a month!
Yay!  Good Day :)

Sparkin

Mr. Wednesday was pretty good this week.
More news.
Sparks restaurant and lounge is giving me a trial period on Friday.

Excited to try it out.  See what it's like.
I've always wanted to go there, but never found an excuse to.
So I guess I will get to make up my mind between Alysse's and Sparks.
yay!
bad news.
I was going to go home, cuz Kenn is getting her wisdom teeth out.
after+surgery.jpg

And Sam is having his court of honor. (props to him...and our angel mother)
And I was going to get a ride with Lovely Erin Mueller.
But alas, my trial is friday night.
That equals, no going home after all.
So if you are in Provo this weekend, lets party!

Good News Minute

Super quick:
Called today by Alysse's Bridal = trial period = possible job.
Group interview at Spark's lounge = frantically memorize the menu = possible job.
No longer considering being a surrogate = happy me.  (only teasing about the surrogate. )

College Life

Tonight was an "unofficial" ward activity.
Game night at cambridge 10.
Seems harmless enough, right?  A little frivolity getting to know everyone.
After some severe questioning, psychiatrics, ninja moving, sock beating, hostaging, and otter pop plotting...I'm pooped.
Don't get me wrong, I love college life.
Where you can equate the amount of successful dating action with the cartons of
ice cream living in the freezer.
Where there's generally a fish in a fishbowl that no one knows where it came from and everyone claims that they've never fed it, but it miraculously has been alive for months.
Where camping out on a rooftop is the best idea that you've had since finals.
Where all of your clothes smell like campfire smoke.
Where getting ready to go study at the library seems like an monetary investment because it just might get you a free diner.  A movie if you look REALLY good.
The crazy, spontaneity of college living always keeps life exciting.

But... I don't know how it is everywhere, but the dating is ferocious!
Like seriously, today I saw this one cute *nameless* guy in my ward at ward prayer.
He was literally being cornered by like 6 girls who were
eyeing him like a giant piece of costco's
all-american-chocolate cake. (I'm craving chocolate like a pregnant woman)
I felt sorry for him.
It was like watching a sweet little baby baby bird being surrounded by the big alley cats and ripped to pieces.  sickly sad.
I would have rescued him if I could have gotten away for the
eager-beaver that had me cornered.
I think I should invest in some pepper spray.

that's all folks.

Good Food Pleases Me

I figure that while I have time on my hands, I am freaking going to cook me really really good food.
So today for lunch, I made something...divine.
Ya'll should try it!  It's pretty simple.

1.  So make some rice.  Jasmine rice is fantastic and delectable, but other kinds would work too.
2.  Then dice some chicken and cook it on high in a frying pan with some olive oil, italian herbs, lemon pepper, and ground pepper.  Let it brown for about 8 minutes and then set it aside.
3.  While this is happening, make a sauce.  I made up this version of a white sauce that was pretty stellar.
So combine some butter and twice that amount of flour in a sauce pan on medium heat to form a basic choux.  Then, add some italian herbs and lemon pepper to that.  Then pour in some milk and add some chicken bouillon and bring it to a low boil and it will thicken up.  Oh, stir the whole time.  Then mix together the chicken and the sauce.
4.  Then cook some vegetables (asparagus, carrots, broccoli, red peppers, whatever you have/feel like).
5.  Then make it look pretty so that you'll want to eat it.  But the rice down first, then put the cooked vegetables on top of that, and then pour the sauce on top of that.  Sprinkle some grated cheese on top.
6. enjoy yourself thoroughly. Bon Appetite!

Oh the places you'll go!!

I've been thinking about my future a lot lately.
You see, being jobless, you have a lot of time on your hands.
Lame.
But back to the subject.
The world is so beautiful and amazing!
I can't wait to see all of the places that I would like to see.
Here are my top picks.

That's all.

Joanna...the other woman

I feel like I am to a point where I need to address the musical abilities, or disabilities, of this woman.

newsom.jpg
Joanna Newsom

She is like this weird, crazy, odd-ball, elfish, celtic something, harpist/clavichoridist/vocalist/songwriter.  She has the most unique sound.  I think that she started singing in the shower one day and started making her vowels as wide as possible and made up crazy words about some peach, mollusk, or whatever suited her fancy and then imagined that she was in a grassy meadow, surrounded my furry, woodland creatures.  Smoking mushrooms.  That is what she sounds like.

listen to it.  it's worth a laugh.
But... strangely enough she has followers.  Like normal people followers.  Like Jesse and his friends.  Like they drove 48 hours round trip to see her in concert...(don't think less of them.)
And I think I am sort of turning into one of them.
Her new work is much softer and more pleasing to the ear.
Even if her voice is still just alien,
just listen to all of the other parts.  She does all of her composing.
(i think.  Don't quote me or anything)
But watch her newer stuff like this one before deeming her crazy dash insane.

bored is not a good time to cut your hair...

Story:
My cute roomie Rachel came home with blonde hair dye.
How fun.
Girls love hair dye, right?
We can't help ourselves.
I think it's linked closely with our raging hormones.
Don't panic.
I didn't go blonde.
I didn't even do any crazy streaks.
But...
my cute friend Charlotte is going to hair school and was going to dye my hair today
but she couldn't tonight.
and me being the impatient person that I am
cut it off myself.
bad idea.
I think she is going to have to fix it for me...
here are our "not-the-best-idea" faces :)

Dr. Laura is a Genius

Can I just say that I adore Dr. Laura?
drlaura.jpg

She is on my personal "most-influential-list."
I love listening to her on the radio.
Also, I recommend following her blog.
She is such a cutie.
Today she posted a beautiful quote.
and I felt like sharing.

Happiness is a butterfly, which when pursued, is always just beyond your grasp, but which, if you will sit down quietly, may alight upon you.

Job Hunt update

Funny fact:
Lane Bryant does discriminate against people who are too thin.
I don't think I've ever been discriminated on for being "too thin" before.
But don't be too sad.
I am scheduled to interview with Nancy Barrus from Avenia Bridal in Provo.
Look up her stuff...it's amazing!!!

I am so excited I could spit!
I know I shouldn't count my chickens before they hatch,
but I am really hoping for the opportunity to work
with her!  She does exactly what I would like
to be doing in 5-10 years!
She makes beautiful custom wedding dresses and
also carries a full line of amazing
amazing dresses.  Check them out!!!
Wish me luck!

Hey Soul Sister :)

So best thing ever for 5 young, beautifully, freakishly thin, starving college students?
All you can eat desert buffet at sizzler.
99 cents.
that's right.
99 cents.
And you can seat yourself,
well that is if your name is Kennedy, Katie, Stacie, or Rachel.
and you can try to fit 5 people in a 2 person booth.
it is very exciting.
and all of the waiters/waitresses/bussers will point and laugh.
They have really good brownies that are good with soft-serve
and caramel
and chocolate fudge
and m&ms
and oreos
 and butterfingers
and toffee bits.
Be careful on the ratio though.
It can get off.
for example:  you could put your brownie down first,
and then put your toppings
and then do the ice cream.
not the best arrangement.
so you can try again.
brownie
+
ice cream
+
butterfingers
+
fudge
and that's a good burrito.
they also have ice cream cones.
but the ice cream cones smell like chicken wings.
or like oyster crackers.
or the clam chowder next to the oyster crackers.
You can leave a tip
if you want too.
You can leave > or < a dollar.
You can leave it in a creative way.
On a napkin.
For Carlos
and Devoni.
But Carlos might pocket it all for himself.
If you stare in the window waiting for him to get it,
You could say that that's just what he would do.
And then Stacie would pull a fit in the parking lot.
